Privacy Policy

How we handle information on this site.

Last updated: July 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Mark A. Cleveland (“I,” “me,” or “we”) collects, uses, and shares information when you visit markacleveland.com (the “Site”) or contact me through the Site.

Information we collect

Information you provide

When you use the contact form, email, or phone number on the Site, you may share:

  • Name and email address
  • Phone number (if you include it)
  • Message content and any other details you choose to send

Contact form submissions are processed and delivered by Formspree (Formspree, Inc.), our form-handling provider. Formspree receives what you submit, along with technical data such as your IP address, in order to deliver your message and prevent spam. Formspree’s handling of that data is described in the Formspree Privacy Policy.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the Site and its hosting provider may automatically collect technical data such as:

  • IP address and general location derived from it
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages visited, referring URL, and timestamps
  • Basic server and security logs

The Site also uses the analytics and measurement services described below.

Analytics and third-party services

We use the following services to understand how the Site is used and how it performs in search results:

  • Google Analytics (Google LLC) — collects information about your visit using cookies and similar technologies, such as pages viewed, time on site, approximate location, device and browser details, and how you arrived at the Site. We use this in aggregate to understand traffic and improve content. Google’s practices are described in the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • Google Search Console (Google LLC) — provides aggregated data about how the Site appears and performs in Google search results. It does not identify individual visitors to us.
  • Bing Webmaster Tools (Microsoft Corporation) — provides similar aggregated search-performance data for Bing. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Semrush (Semrush Inc.) — an SEO and site-audit tool we use to analyze the Site’s search visibility, technical health, and aggregate traffic patterns. It does not identify individual visitors to us.

Opting out of Google analytics and advertising

If you prefer not to be included in Google Analytics measurement, you can:

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • Respond to inquiries and requests
  • Operate, secure, and improve the Site
  • Understand how the Site is used at a high level
  • Comply with legal obligations when required

We do not sell your personal information.

Sharing of information

We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help run the Site — for example hosting, form delivery (Formspree), analytics (Google Analytics), search tools (Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools), and SEO tooling (Semrush) — under obligations to handle data appropriately
  • Professional advisors (legal, accounting) when needed
  • Authorities when required by law, regulation, or valid legal process
  • Successors in the event of a merger, sale, or similar transfer of assets related to this Site or my professional practice

Cookies and similar technologies

The Site uses cookies and local storage in two ways:

  • Essential — necessary for basic functionality, security, or preferences
  • Analytics — set by Google Analytics to measure how the Site is used (see “Analytics and third-party services” above)

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and opt out of Google Analytics specifically using the tools listed above. Disabling some cookies may affect how the Site works.

Data retention

We keep contact messages and related records only as long as needed to respond and manage our professional relationship, or longer when required for legal, security, or accounting reasons. Server logs are retained according to our hosting provider’s practices.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To exercise those rights, contact us using the details below. You may also stop emailing us or request that we delete a prior message thread where feasible.

The Site links to third-party sites (for example LinkedIn, X, Instagram, or podcast platforms). Links are provided for convenience only: we do not endorse, control, or take responsibility for the content, products, services, or privacy practices of any third-party site. Their privacy practices are their own; this policy does not cover those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
